What we record.
Your choice
Checking your setting…
In short
- Anonymous usage statistics are recorded only if you choose "Allow". Nothing is sent anywhere before that.
- The one thing kept without asking is a list of the question IDs your browser has been shown, so your next investigation has new questions. It stays on your device and is never sent.
- We never record your name, email, phone number, location or your answers. Your answers stay on your device and are gone when you close the page.
- No cookies, no advertising, no selling or sharing of data for marketing.
- If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we treat that as "No thanks".
What is recorded if you allow it
Events such as: a page was viewed, an investigation was started, a question was answered (which question, never which answer), an investigation was completed with the verdict "CEO OF BAD DECISIONS", the evidence card was downloaded or shared, a challenge link was copied.
Each event carries: the time, a random visitor ID, a random session ID, your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop), the website that linked you here (for example t.co), and, if a friend's link brought you here, their anonymous referral code.
The IDs are random strings made by your browser. They identify a browser, not a person.
Referral codes
If you allow statistics, links you share include ref= followed by a random code for your browser. When a friend opens your link and allows statistics too, we can count that your link brought someone in. That's all it does: no rewards, no rankings, and the code says nothing about who you are.
A referral is credited only for a first visit, only within 30 days, and never for opening your own link.
Where it goes and how long it is kept
Events are sent to PostHog Cloud in the European Union, the analytics service we use. IP-based location lookup is switched off for every event. Statistics are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
On your device, the choice you made is stored so we don't ask again. If you allow statistics, your browser also stores the random IDs and, if a friend referred you, their code for 30 days. Keys start with cd. in this site's local storage.
Question history
The department has a bank of questions and picks eight for each investigation. To give you new ones next time, your browser remembers which question IDs it has shown you (for example mon-03) and a counter. Never your answers, never your results. This list stays on your device in cd.rotation.v1, is never sent anywhere, and works the same whether or not you allow statistics.
Done. Your next investigation starts a fresh rotation.
Changing your mind
Use the buttons above at any time. Turning statistics off stops recording immediately and deletes the IDs and referral information stored by this site on your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser does the same.
